The Pilipino Educators Network (PEN) is a dynamic alliance of Filipino educators in Prince George’s County geared towards the advancement of professional excellence and advocacy of Filipino heritage.
As a local teachers support network in Prince George’s County, PEN has been activelyinvolved in mobilization efforts in order to provide support for international teachers who are currently unemployed or face unemployment due to the recently proposed settlement between Prince George’s Co. Public Schools & the Dept. of Labor (see article link for further details, http://www.dol.gov/opa/med
In order to help teachers and their families through thesestruggles, PEN’s leadership and task forces have set up town hall meetings, collaborated with the teacher’s labor union, helped organized legal clinics, mobilized pickets, and networked with community groups as well as the Philippine Embassy in order to help protect the rights and welfare for Prince George’s County International teachers and their families. They have worked tirelessly to advocate for the voice of many.
